 Questions:

1. Which issue is more disconcerting- the fact that a board member leaked confidential information about the firm or the tactics used to investigate the leak? defend your position.

The more disconcerting is the fact that a board member leaked confidential information about the firm because even if you are in a highest position in a company you don’t have the right to leak the confidential information because you already know that it’s against the law.

2.    Can the use of pretexting to gain information ever be justified? is it consider legal under any circumstances?

Pretexting is the practice of getting your personal information under false pretenses and it is illegal. For example the pretexters call you and ask you personal information ones he/she what information he needs he will used it to steal your account.

Chapter 1 CASE # 3 Is There a Place for Ethics in IT?
Questions:

1. Discuss how a CIO might handle Schrage’s sceanarios using the suggested process for ethical decision making presented in this chapter.

CIO must handle schrage's scenarios by orienting them the right process of making a strong decision in a formal in a ethical way. They must give importance the ethical way in the company.

2. Discuss the possible short-term losses and long-term gains in implementing ethical solutions for each of Schrage’s scenarios.

For me, short term fails to meet standard for their businesses they might lose something but a small amount or quantity.

3. Must business choose between good ethics and financial benefits? Explain your answer using Schrage’s scenarios as examples.

Business must choose good ethics more than anything else because in the Schrage opinion he said that the ethics had become a buzzword and we all know that ETHICS is important because ethics are important because they give us a baseline for understanding the concepts of right and wrong.

Chapter 2 - IT Technicians Fired After Reporting Child Porn

 Question:

1. What message is sent to IT workers by the actions of New York Law School and colleague even if unrelated job-performance issues justified their actions in firing Gross and Perry?

Do away with to your business that is not related to your job. Do what your professor assigned to you. It maybe harms you or the suspect and it can be both of you. Think a million times if you spread or report of what you discovered. Look at this side, if the school will know what professor did what advantage they will get and especially you must think what advantage and disadvantage you will get if you are the one will report it.

2. Since the incident, a number of states have enacted laws that require workers to report immediately any child pornography found while servicing equipment. Most of the laws state that worker who reports such a discovery is immune from any criminal, civil or administrative liability. Failure to report the discovery can result to a fine, imprisonment or both,do you think such laws will encourage reporting? why or why not?

That law will not encourage reporting because for the sake of dignity of the company you report of what your coworker did but instead they will appreciate you they will fired you. You did good for the sake of the school but it they fired you as a result.

Chapter 2 - CASE# 3 When Certification Is Justified
Questions:

1. How can organizations and vendors change their certification programs to test for skills as well as core knowledge  What issues might this introduce?

Organization create a project management certification that give training to the employee and IT workers to gain the certificate needed for the job they are in. What you have learned you must know how to use the knowledge that you gain.

2. What are the primary arguments against certification, and how can certifying bodies change their programs to overcome these shortcomings?

They argued that testable IT knowledge does not necessarily translate into quality IT work. A worker needs good communications and problem-solving skills as well as perseverance to get the job done well. So, while there is no universal call for the certification or a uniform examination procedure that answers all needs within the IT profession, certifying bodies are beginning to adapt their programs to better fulfill the evolving need for certification in IT.

3. What are the benefits of certification? How might certification programs need to change in the future to better serve the needs of the IT community?

The benefits of certification of course better job opportunities and they will identify as an IT and the certificates is a proof that you attend a seminars or a training.
